How Women on a Mission came about
In early 2014, Michele purchased a silver bangle, with the above bible passage inscribed on it. It was a passage that spoke the truth to her - at the end of the day, all that matters is faith, hope and love (charity).
Several months later, and with much divine inspiration, an idea started to form about beginning a womens organisation, which would help bring faith, hope and love back into womens lives.
There were also many women, particularily on the NSW Central Coast who needed help, but didn't know exactly where to turn in their time of need. Michele, realised that there were many women who wanted to help others, but just didn't know where to start.
This is where the initial concept for Women on a Mission began. The idea was to bring together two groups of women - those who have a heart for helping, and those who need a helping hand. There are women who would love to offer their time, donate some of their 'stuff' or offer their skills and services to those in need. Then there are the women who are going through a hard time in their life, and need a supportive shoulder to lean and know that someone cares.
Over the coming months, many conversations had with family and friends, time spent in prayer and many, many pages of notes and ideas were written down, scratched, re-written and improved upon.
The idea was that the guiding principals of Women on a Mission would be based on the Christian Works of Mercy, being to: feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, tend to the sick, visit the imprisoned, and help bury the dead (help with the cost of funerals for those that couldn't afford one for a loved one). With women in need, being the focus.
As conversations and ideas continued to flow, the more it seemed women were interested in being a part of Women on a Mission. . Whether it be to organise a canned food drive, teach women in refuges a new skill, co-ordinate a collection for womens clothing for those in need, or any number of other missions, the women would pull together and fulfill the need.
Our aim is to help women in need - whether it be that they are homeless, living in poverty, have left a violent relationship, are lonely, have lost a child, are pregnant and scared or just need some help - we will do what we can to help. And if we are unable to help, we will do our best to find someone who can.
Over the last several months, ideas have been swapped, connections have been made, and a committed group of women are now working together to bring Women on a Mission to fruition. We are a caring group of women, who, when contacted, will do whatever we can to help whoever we can. We will help who we can, where we are, with what we have
The idea is simple: we are given a Mission, and we will pull together the women we need to fulfill it. We are here to help.
